These days many people use a low cost airline. If you go short term trip, flight ticket cost take big part of your travel cost. So many people want to take cheaper ticket. But it is not always cheap. To buy cheaper ticket, you should know how they sell tickets differently.

First, reserve it as soon as possible.

The companies offer different cost according to flight seat. For example at first they offer 5$ seats next 10$ seats and then 20$ like that. So as soon as you buy it early, you can get a cheaper ticket. (But notice this. If you have to cancel it, you might pay expensive commission fee. Or they can rebate it as a flight mileage)

You can usually find cheap ticket one month ago and as it is a non popular route and time, many cheap ticket left for a long. But you want popular route ticket, reserve it as soon as possible.

Second, choose a unpopular time.

Most airlines offer early and late night flight ticket cheaply. So it can be a one way to buy cheap ticket (although you might sleep at the airport). Also if you go to somewhere in unpopular day in week you can get cheap ticket. Usually Friday and saturday's flying tickets are expensive and Tuesday, Wensday's tickets are cheap.

(Notice: If the ticket cost has similar cost that you thought, it is good to buy it asap. In some cases, while you consider the price change, it can be more expensive than before.)

Third, have an eye on promotion

Many low cost airlines do special promotion when they are making new route or increasing planes or selling unpopular route. If you reserve it in the deadline, you can buy it cheaply. But as all tickets are sold out before the deadline, you should pay original cost.

You might be confused on the previous ways but to save your money, you should put up with some inconveniences. According to your flight strategy, you can save a lot of money(I can't suggest exact number but you can easily find the cost gap on the low cost airline's reservation pages.)
